150 years along the Nimíipuu trail

In 1877, bands of the Nez Perce travelled more than a thousand miles across present-day Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. The sesquicentennial marks 150 years since that journey. Across the 2026–2027 seasons, tribal nations, national park sites and trail communities are hosting commemorations, cultural gatherings and guided experiences open to visitors.

The Nez Perce National Historic Trail runs roughly 1,170 miles from the Wallowa Valley to the Bear Paw. Use this page to learn about the commemoration and to find events happening along the route.
