The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, a federally recognized tribe in California's Santa Ynez Valley, hosts the Chumash Intertribal Powwow, the tribe's largest cultural event of the year. Over 300 Native American dancers and singers representing tribes from across the United States and Canada attend annually to participate both socially and competitively.
Visitors can experience two days of dancing, singing, drumming, food, and Native arts and crafts in Santa Ynez, California. The powwow is held each fall; the edition listed here ran September 28-29, with the event traditionally hosted in the late September to October window.
