Pyramid Lake

Pyramid Lake, on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe's reservation northeast of Reno, is a stunning desert terminal lake famed for its tufa rock formations and world-class Lahontan cutthroat trout fishery, managed by the tribe.

The lake hosts community events throughout the year. In 2026 these include a spring-break student fishing day trip on March 24, the Annual MMIP Solidarity Walk and Social Powwow on May 9 — sponsored by the Pyramid Lake Victim Service Program and the Pyramid Lake Museum to honor and raise awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous people — and the Cutthroat Trout Fishing Derby on December 5-6, 2026 (details from Pyramid Lake Fisheries at (775) 476-0500).

Visitors to the lake need tribal permits for fishing, boating, and camping, available through the tribe.

Events on this page are shared from the Nevada's Indian Territory calendar (nevadasindianterritory.com).
