Owyhee is the main community of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, home of the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes, straddling the Nevada-Idaho border in remote high-desert country along the Owyhee River.
Each summer the community hosts the Duck Valley 4th of July Powwow, set for July 3-5, 2026. Grand entries are held Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday at noon, and camping is available for visitors making the trip.
The powwow weekend is a chance to experience dancing, drumming, and community celebration in one of Nevada's most scenic and least-traveled corners.
