Duckwater is home to the Duckwater Shoshone Tribe, a federally recognized Western Shoshone tribe located in Railroad Valley near the Big Warm Spring in the high desert of northern Nye County, Nevada.
Each June the tribe holds its Duckwater Spring Festival, which includes a barbecue, powwow, drum contest, hand games, a horseshoe tournament, and more. The powwow is an opportunity for the tribe and visitors to join in dancing, renew old friendships, and make new ones -- a time to remember and share the old ways, with ancestral values communicated through the songs and the spirit of the drum.
The 2026 Duckwater Spring Festival is scheduled for June 12-14, 2026.
