California Trail Historic Interpretive Center

The California Trail Interpretive Center, located at 1 Trail Center Way just west of Elko, Nevada, brings the story of the 2,000-mile California Trail to life. The center is operated by Nevada Outdoor School, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management, and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

On June 6-7, 2026 the center hosted Freedom 250 Trail Days, an early-summer family celebration marking America's 250th anniversary with living-history presentations, wagon rides, gold panning, archery, axe throwing, old-fashioned games, live music, and Dutch oven cooking demonstrations.

Events on this page are shared from the Nevada's Indian Territory calendar (nevadasindianterritory.com).
